細菌による世界統一

　コメントに触発されて、今日は簡単な文献の紹介です。　

　フランスの歴史学の泰斗、エマニュエル・ル・ロワ・ラデュリーに「細菌による世界統一」という面白い論文があります。ユスティニアヌスのペストと14世紀の黒死病の伝播の範囲の違い、そして19世紀のコレラの伝播などに歴史家の注意を向けた初期の論文だと思います。　日本語に翻訳されているかどうか定かではありませんが、英語訳は以下の通りです。　Le Roy Ladurie, Emmanuel, “A Concept: The Unification of the Globe by Disease (Fourteenth to Seventeenth Century)”, in The Mind and Method of the Historian, translated from the French by Sian and Ben Reynolds (Brighton: The Harvester Press, 1981), 28-83.
