ドイツの研究所でフェローシップを募集しています。美しいブレーメンに近い都市で、広い庭園の中にモダニズムの建物があり、そこで研究に集中することができます。博士論文を仕上げて、それを単行本にするという仕事に集中しているような若い研究者に向いていると思います。社会部門の委員長のヴォルフガング・ステンツェル先生からいただいたメールを添えました。

From 6 April, at the University of Tokyo, I will run a seminar for undergraduate and graduate students. The subject is the history of case history. We shall examine the changes of medical practitioners' account of the patients from the Ancient cvilisation to the end of the twentieth century. Reading materials and seminars are in English. After twenty-four years of teaching at Keio University, I have just moved to the University of Tokyo to teach history of medicine at the Centre of Medical Humanities at the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology. Keio has been immensely helpful, in my colleagues, students, graduate students, and administrative staff. It has also provided an ideal place for academic connections for both national and international graduate students and scholars.
The Centre of Medical Humanities at the University of Tokyo is a multi-disciplinary and international centre. It encourages bioethics in Japan to create international connections with history, philosophy, literature, art, sociology, and many other disciplines in humanities, as well as medicine, nursing, pharmacology, science, technology, and environmental sciences. If you have any interest in studying history of medicine in Japan and connecting the history with other disciplines, please drop me a note. I am looking forward to working with you.
春を告げる温かい日々が続いています。皆様は、色々な希望と共に新年度を始めていらっしゃると思います.
私は、この4月より、東京大学・人文社会学系大学院の死生学・応用倫理センターで教鞭をとることになりました。生命倫理学が核となって、医学史という新しい学問が、人文系の学問はもちろん、医学部や看護学部をはじめとして、社会科学、薬学、理工、農学などの学問と実務と結びつける大きな転換期にいることを実感しています。
これまでは、慶應義塾大学で、24年間にわたって教えました。その中で、多くの方々にお世話になりました。三田の経済学部と日吉の教員の皆さま、学部と大学院の学生諸君、慶應の事務や図書館の皆さまから多くのことを学び、インスピレーションを得てきました。また、日本や外国の多くの大学の皆さまからも、多くを学びました。皆様に、心の底からお礼を申し上げます。
東京大学では、私たちが敬愛する研究者で、死生学と科学史・医学史との境界を切り開いた小松美彦先生の後を継ぐことになります。小松先生の洞察と、死生学と応用倫理がどのように交わるのか、学生諸君や医療関係者の皆さまと深めていきたいと思います。それと同時に、新しい医学史がくっきりと現れたイギリスやアメリカなどの英語圏、フランスやドイツのヨーロッパ圏、東アジアや世界各地の多くの国にも、医学史の研究者が数多く存在しています。彼ら・彼女らと協力して、広い範囲の医学史を作っていこうと考えております。
多くの皆さまと一緒に仕事をすることができ、新しい医学史を作り上げることを、楽しみにしております。よろしくお願いいたします。
