二十四節気の小寒

小寒は季冬十二月建丑(けんちゅう)の月の節気。太陽は黄経285度に達し、太陽暦では1月5日頃。今年は1月6日である。
 
小寒と次の大寒の一か月間を寒・寒中といい、小寒の入節日を「寒の入り」という。文字通り一年の中で一番寒い季節である。
 
初候は「雁北郷」(かりきたにむかふ)。正直言って、雁が北に帰るということがかなり分からない。これから日本の雁を熱心に見るような気がする。
次候は「鵲始巣」(かささぎはじめてすくう)。カササギが巣を作り始める。
末候は「野雉始〇」(やけいはじめてなく)。最後の〇は初めて見た感じ。キジの雄が雌を求めて鳴くことを表現した漢字。こんな冬のど真ん中にキジが鳴くのかと思いがちだが、実は数日前に、田んぼでキジの雄と雌が並んでおり、そこでキジの雄が実際に鳴いていた。こちらは珍しく納得する。

エスプレッソよりイングランドの大麻の限定合法化

エスプレッソで大麻(カナビス)の合法化に関するニュース。大麻(およびその化学物質)を処方してよいには、小児のてんかんのうち、マイナーな二種類に関してとのこと。病気自体がまれなので、あまり大きな利用にはいたらないだろうが、面白いものになるだろうとのこと。
