BBCとチェスタトンと精神医療

 
実佳からの情報。チェスタトンが今世紀の前半に描いた推理小説で、ブラウン神父を探偵役にしたシリーズがドラマにされ、日本でも観ることができるとのこと。実佳によれば、精神病院における犯罪を描いた作品もあり、電気ショック療法が用いられている映像もあるとのこと。それぞれ series 1, episode 2 と、series 2, episode 7 であるとのこと。これが実際にチェスタトンが書いた作品に対応しているかどうかについては、分からないとのこと。
 
もちろん私も分からない（笑）チェスタトンについてほぼ何も知らない。その作品を一つも読んだことがない。推理小説を書き、評論を書き、優生学を論じた文章を発表するなど、これは知っておいたほうがいい。最後の文章はamazon で無料である。一連の仕事が終わりましたら、数日かけて基本をマスターしておきます。

二十四節気の小寒

小寒は季冬十二月建丑（けんちゅう）の月の節気。太陽は黄経285度に達し、太陽暦では1月5日頃。今年は1月6日である。
 
小寒と次の大寒の一か月間を寒・寒中といい、小寒の入節日を「寒の入り」という。文字通り一年の中で一番寒い季節である。
 
初候は「雁北郷」（かりきたにむかふ）。正直言って、雁が北に帰るということがかなり分からない。これから日本の雁を熱心に見るような気がする。
次候は「鵲始巣」（かささぎはじめてすくう）。カササギが巣を作り始める。
末候は「野雉始〇」（やけいはじめてなく）。最後の〇は初めて見た感じ。キジの雄が雌を求めて鳴くことを表現した漢字。こんな冬のど真ん中にキジが鳴くのかと思いがちだが、実は数日前に、田んぼでキジの雄と雌が並んでおり、そこでキジの雄が実際に鳴いていた。こちらは珍しく納得する。

エスプレッソよりイングランドの大麻の限定合法化

エスプレッソで大麻（カナビス）の合法化に関するニュース。大麻（およびその化学物質）を処方してよいには、小児のてんかんのうち、マイナーな二種類に関してとのこと。病気自体がまれなので、あまり大きな利用にはいたらないだろうが、面白いものになるだろうとのこと。
 
それよりも重要なのは、世界各地で大麻の合法化が進んでいる。イギリスでも大麻を用いた別のプロジェクトがあり、2万人の患者を用いた大きな実験が行われようとしているとのこと。大麻が再利用可能になるかどうかを議論するときの重要な素材になるだろうとのこと。
