この任意的なツールを社会と世界に広めようというプロジェクトに関しては、間違いなく論争が起きて、非常に深い議論になるだろうと思います。このツールが利用する情報は、個人の身体に関する情報であり、保菌という原理的にあいまいな情報だという印象を持っています。いい本を読みたいのですが、まだ見当もつかない状態です。教えてくださいな！

BBCからcovid-19 に関する面白いニュースが二つ。一つはコンタクト・トレーシングのソフトウェアがワイト島で採用されようとしていること。これは患者、元患者、接触の危険があるもの、そのような人物たちとコンタクトする危険があるもの、そういった人物を発見しやすくするために、スマートフォンにアプリをいれるというメカニズムである。一度、その様子を動画で見てみたいのだが、まだその実例を見たことがない。これを導入するかどうかに関して、激しい論争が起きるだろう。
あまり関係はないが、これが最初は島であるワイト島で導入されたという部分が少し面白い。ワイト島はイギリスとフランスの間にあるわりと大きな島で、ずっと地方部であったが、19世紀に意味があるリゾート地として確立した。もともとはヴィクトリア女王が少女時代に過ごして非常に好きになり、女王になってから別荘も作らせたという。そこにイギリスやフランスから多くの文化人たちが訪れ、ディケンズ、テニソン、ベルト・モリソ、そして著名な女性写真家のキャメロンなどである。このような立派な島を、決してアイルランドとの間にあるマン島と勘違いしないこと（笑）
もう一つが、covid-19を克服するための政策についての議論。スウェーデンがわりとやわらかい方法を使って成功していること。学校は開いているし、1メートルの差をつけることとはあるが、にこやかな感じで進んでいること。もちろん感染学とかエピデミック対策を担当している人物が楽しい人物であるということもあるが、それよりも重要な問題がある。感染を受けて、症状がほとんどない保菌者となり、免疫を持つようになった人物がどのくらいいたのかということである。

今日の私が一人で勝手に大混乱した単語は semicoma。意味は分かります。「半分ほど」の意味のセミと「昏睡」を意味するコーマを並べた。もちろん当たり前である。
しかし、coma という言葉には、昏睡を意味するものと、天文学の言葉で、「コマ，髪 《彗星(すいせい)の頭部で核の周囲にある星雲状のもの》」という意味もある。だから semicoma というと、理論的には、彗星の頭部の星雲状のものがぼやけているとかそういう意味になる。ウィルスのコロナが、もともとは王冠の意味、それから天文学の意味になり、それが医学にも広がっていったのと同じ流れなのだろうか。調べたら、植物学の coma と医学の coma がほぼ同じ17世紀。天文学は18世紀になる。
